About KAMC
KAMC first signed on the air on April 18, 1982 as an independent station. It was originally owned by the Lubbock Christian College, who also owned KTTZ-TV in Lubbock and KTJO-TV in St. Joseph, Missouri. In the late 1980s, KAMC became a Fox affiliate, but its affiliation with the network was short-lived, as the station returned to being an independent in the early 1990s.In 1999, KAMC was acquired by Nexstar Broadcasting Group (now Nexstar Media Group). Around the same time, it entered into a local marketing agreement with KLBK-TV, which was owned by the Daystar Television Network at the time. The two stations shared a news department and operated out of the same studios, with KLBK providing certain technical and administrative services to KAMC. In 2002, KAMC became an ABC affiliate, replacing KLBK as the network's affiliate in the Lubbock market. KLBK subsequently became a CBS affiliate. The local marketing agreement between KAMC and KLBK has been continued by their respective owners, with KAMC remaining an ABC affiliate and KLBK a CBS affiliate.
