KTVU is a Fox owned-and-operated television station located in Oakland, California. It is the Bay Area's second-oldest television station, signing on the air on March 3, 1958. The station was originally owned by KTVU Inc., a locally owned corporation. In 2014, Fox Television Stations acquired KTVU and its sister station, KICU, from the Cox Media Group in exchange for trading two of its own stations, WFXT in Boston and WHBQ-TV in Memphis, to Cox. The acquisition made KTVU the sixth-largest market in the National Football Conference, where Fox owns at least one television station.
